Tamarisk Removal ProjectThree Mile Creek - Glenwood SpringsJoin the Ferdinand Hayden Chapter, Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers and Roaring Fork Conservancy to help eradicate tamarisk. Tamarisk is one of the most highly invasive plants in the west, crowding out native riparian vegetation, and using massive amounts of water. The Roaring Fork valley has discovered some small pockets, and with aggressive action, the invasion can be curtailed. Each year a number of local volunteer groups join together to remove the destructive species. The collaboration of resources and volunteers creates a great atmosphere for everyone. Whether it is your first volunteer project, or you are an old pro, this project is a great way to help the cause and meet some like-minded folks. Call Rick Lofaro at 927-1290, or email rick@roaringfork.org for details or to sign up. |
