BOOMING YEAR FERDINAND HAYDEN CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP!!

Among our Ferdinand Hayden Chapter’s many 2005 accomplishments was its increase in membership. During this past year, the chapter experienced a 20% increase in its active membership. As of year-end 2005, chapter membership stood at 507 or about twice the membership of six years ago when the Aspen-, Glenwood Springs-, and Eagle Valley-based Trout Unlimited chapters were merged into the current Ferdinand Hayden Chapter. About 45% of the chapter members live in the Eagle River drainage; another 40% reside in the Roaring Fork Valley between Aspen and Carbondale; and the remaining 15% live in the Colorado River Valley between Glenwood Springs and Rifle.

While some of the net increase in membership during the past year was attributable to members moving or changing their membership addresses to this area, most of the increase was due to new Trout Unlimited memberships. Some of the new chapter members over the past several years have become active in the chapter’s board of directors and/or became involved with one or more of the chapter’s committees. The net result has been an increase in the chapter’s abilities to plan and execute the many projects and events available.
